On popular demand an update of the SSTT visualizer Augmented Reality (AR) tool will be out soon. There are a number of features which will make it way more usable.
- an integrated editor
- tracking controllable with fine grain control over the actual mode and method used
- video capture is more controllable and can utilize any device attached (yes also an HD camera)
- more performance for both video and tracking (on a standard PC tracking as fast as 4ms per target)
- usage of optimized modes on machines with nVIDIA graphic chipsets
- and a lot more under the hood
But most of the time I was working on user experience. Augmented Reality itself is quite a complex thing (that is if you dig down deep to all the necessities of spatial and visual registration) but for the normal user only the result matters. Unlike other AR authoring tools SSTT can leverage the full features of the tracking and the modularity of the underlying libraries. So, stay tuned ...
