About

technotecture [tech·no·tec·ture] researches and develops software technology for digital design. technotecture is also the working title for the project portfolio by Hartmut Seichter who is an architect and a software engineer specialised in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Human Computer Interfaces (HCI), Computer Vision, Telepresence, Digital Design and Mechatronics. Though, most technologies here are quite fundamental, they are cornerstones to create the next generation of digital design tools.

The idea to technotecture started back in the days when architectural design students were faced with creating new design models in a highly iterative process. The sheer amount of repetitive work and massive amounts of material that went into these models made Hartmut start to think of alternatives.

Using offline CG turned out to be interesting but there is the missing tactile experience of working with real models. Grasping a model can not be compensated. Virtual Reality turned out to be not ready yet but it seemed a pathway to another technology called Augmented Reality.

Right now, Hartmut is working at one of the most renown Augmented Reality labs in the world, the HIT Lab NZ and developing future technology and application with AR.
